Week 7 GAME Plan

My goal of working with other professionals in my field that have experience will assist me in helping my students reach proficiency. Working with other teachers I will gain ideas on how to use different technology ideas in the classroom. Also if there are times that I am having problems with using technology I can go to other professionals and ask for assistance to help children better understand an assignment.

My goal of participating in learning communities to learn more about using technology in the classroom will help me create new assignments to expose students to different types of technology, along with different uses for technology.

  1. Amber,
I have found that there are not too many teachers that have more knowledge concerning educational technology than I do at my school, which has been provided by Walden University. Do you have many knowledgable teachers concerning technology at your school? It seems that you may be the best source of knowledge, because you know how to independently find out what you dont know using the correct sources of information. I am not confident in the technology skills of other teachers at my school.

  2. Amber,
I am excited about the teacher who like and want to use technology. I have developed a learning community, ironically enough with teachers from another school. We had a profession development day last week and the afternoon was dedicated to integrating technology into the classroom, however the speaker was way over everyone's head. He did not speak teacher language. So many people tell teachers what to use but never explain how to use and incorporate and most importantly, how to manage technology. Participating in learning communities regarding technology is important. Technology should not be considered another thing "to do". It should be considered a way of doing existing teaching and learning. I am glad you have a group to "brain storm with".

  3. Amber,
Consulting other teachers and professionals that are experienced with technology is a great way to familiarize yourself with tools and applications that would help your students become proficient in content standards. If you were to use the actual GAME plan process with a class of students, how would you go about doing it? Would you have your students create a common goal within the class to work on together, or would you have the students set their own individual goals?

  4. Amber,
In order to be a successful teacher, I believe it is extremely important to be a life-long learner. Especially since technology is moving ahead at such a rapid pace. I feel extremely lucky to be taking technology classes at Walden. Without them I would be lost. For this reason, I hope that I can share some of my knowledge with colleagues. Sharing ideas will help ALL students succeed.

It sounds like you have a GAME plan. Don’t forget to monitor, evaluate, and make adjustments if needed. The best way to teach our students is for them to see us in action! Explain “your” GAME plan. Be a role model, in order to assist your students in creating a plan for themselves! Good luck!
