TO get started on my game plan I will need to find individuals who are already involved with the technology committee so that I can find out the location, times, dates and my eligibility as a member. This is an important step, if I am on or attending the committee I will be exposed to new information and possible uses for the technology provided. I also need to seek out articles, blogs, and online lesson plans that deal with the integration of technology. Finally I need to find a colleague that is proficient in the use of the District Angel site that allows me to create online lessons, resources list and blogs that students can securely access anywhere without risk of individuals outside of the classroom accessing any information or postings. So far in a quest to meet my goals I have discussed working with a teacher on assisting with my exploration of the Angel site and the possible classroom uses. Also my nephew is going to be in second grade next year in Ohio while I teach second grade in Florida so I am going to attempt to plan an activity that the two classrooms can collaborate on.

Amber,
ReplyDeleteGetting on the technology committee would be a great way to access lessons and ideas. I don't know why I didn't think of this. I will say that one of my close colleagues decided to be our tech liason for our school and was hoping to get ideas and insights on ways to implement applications. However, she was quite disappointed. She only had about 4 meetings the whole year, and much of their discussions where on the logistics of what applications could be used, when computers needed to be turned off (holidays, teacher inservice days, etc.) and ethics on technology usage. She was hopeful that she would learn more about different applications and be able to relay that information to her colleagues. I am hopeful that you will have a different experience because I think it is a perfect way to obtain more knowledge about these programs.

Amber,
ReplyDeleteYou mentioned that you needed to seek out articles and blogs that deal with technology integration, what type of lessons, topics, etc., are you looking for? What have you been able to find up to this point? I have posted some links in my blog this week that you might find useful. If you reference the “Progress,” section (http://clausen-technology-in-action.blogspot.com/) of the post there are some hyperlinks you might want to check out. Here are some other websites that you might find useful in your search for resources:

The biggest issue with finding resources online is TIME! There is never time in the day to explore all the different was technology can be integrated into instruction. Please let me know if I can help you with your search for resources.
